With AI slop flooding the world, now more than ever it is important to celebrate the creativity and beauty of human-made works. My home is filled with art from spooky artists. Every corner has something interesting to discover. Here are some of my favorites.
Michelle Prebich of Bat in Your Belfry specializes in illustrations, prints, and wearable accessories inspired by Halloween, history, and pop culture.
Based in Southern California, I had the pleasure to work with her at ScareLA. She even designed our credentials in 2018 and was our official artwork provider for two years. For my 15th anniversary with my Honey-Bunny, I commissioned her to create a custom portrait. It is my favorite art piece ever! Hung prominently in my room, it brings me joy all throughout my day. She is my favorite artist and I am honored to own one of her original pieces.
El Gato Gomez is an artist and designer who is known for her vibrant retro aesthetic and penchant for social justice. Her works often include horror and Halloween imagery. She is a prolific artist, with quite a vast array of paintings and prints.Β
I found her work on Instagram and fell in love with her style. Her original artworks often sell quite quickly, so I was thrilled when I was able to snag a blue & green “Spooky” painting that would fit perfectly with my bedroom color palette It is such a fun piece!
Julie Ann Davis, the owner of my hometown vintage clothing store, Cats Like Us, did an interview with El Gato Gomez in 2020 for Auxiliary Magazine’s Fall Issue. You can read it here.Β
Ragon Dickard of Ragonia Art loves to make art filled with monsters, animals, people, the autumn season, and fruits and vegetables. On her website, she lists her inspiration as “Americana, printmaking, animation, kitschy things I find at Goodwill, and my adopted tortoiseshell cat Pumpkin.”
I was first introduced to her work at Lightbox Expo 2023, where I fell in love with her bold, kitschy style. One particular gremlin piece really spoke to me and I had to take that original home. It now haunts me from my dining area.
Cody Williams of Yetis and Friends creates whimsical fiber art in the form of vegan faux-taxidermy and dolls, as well as self-published books and printed materials. This Portland-based artist loves folklore, history, monsters, and the realm hereafter.Β
Cody was an exhibitor at ScareLA. I loved his pieces and when I saw a particularly adorable black and gray furry yeti, I had to take it home with me. Cornelius now looms over my bed and protects me from things that go bump in the night. You can see my full post on him here.

Masaaki Fukuda of Marumame-Dou is a Japanese special effects modeler and sculptor. His works bring to life yokai – monsters of Japanese folklore – kaiju, dinosaurs, and more.
His work truly stood out to me when I saw him at Monsterpalooza 2026. My favorite yokai is Karakasa KozΕ / Kasa Obake (Umbrella Monster), and when I saw his life-like miniatures, I had to get one. Its long tongue and slightly bloodshot eye judging stare at me throughout my work day. He helps me stay motivated!

Anna Daviscourt is Portland-based illustrator who loves to blend whimsical design and storytelling to create magical images that transport the viewer. Her prestigious client list includes Disney Publishing, Lucasfilm Press, Harper Collins, Hasbro, and more.
An exhibitor at LightBox Expo 2025, her Halloween Night Parade work caught my attention for being a fantastic mix of my two favorite things – Halloween & Japanese folklore. This is one of the few prints I display in my home because it is just too perfect of a fit for my interests! At least she was kind enough to sign the back and make it out to Emily, “The Queen of Halloween”.Β
