It’s the time of year when newsstands around the county stock their shelves with Halloween fare. These magazines provide inspiration for countless crafts, foods, and costumes. Here are my favorite Halloween magazines to browse each year.
Better Homes & Gardens provides expert advice on home decor, gardening, recipes, special occasions, and more. Their Halloween season special issue, “Halloween Tricks & Treats” contains inspiration for party themes, pumpkin carving, drinks, snacks, costumes, and more.
My favorite sections are their party food & beverages, and the exquisitely staged party theme photos. They don’t just give you an idea for the specific food item or craft, they also inspire presentations.
For 2026 I also enjoyed their interviews. Featured Halloween creators included pumpkin carver Adam Bierton and Halloween cookbook author Lori Castellon.
One criticism, however, is that for someone who collects this each year, you will occasionally find repeats within the recipes and craft ideas. The majority of the content is new each year, though.
With a similar focus as Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping is another home decor and lifestyle magazine. Their special edition “Halloween Magic” magazines tend to lean heavily into costume and pumpkin carving inspiration.
The queen of holiday entertaining, Martha Stewart is known for her elaborate displays, creative Halloween costumes, and delicious recipes.
These magazines often include pumpkin carving templates, easy-to-make party recipes, and personal stories from Stewart about her favorite holiday traditions.
I love to look back at previous years’ editions for party and home entertaining inspirtation.
My favorite Halloween influencer & blogger, Miranda of Spooky Little Halloween produces a quarterly Halloween magazine. While the winter, spring and summer editions are smaller zines, the special Halloween season edition is a full-size, 50+ page magazine.
With 100% new printed content each edition and a variety of guest articles, this is a fascinating read each time. Topics change from issue to issue, but they have included spooky travel locations & tips, creator interviews, craft how-tos, and more. I highly recommend these magazines for any Halloween enthusiast.
