The Perfect S’mores

Cool autumn nights are the perfect setting for a warm campfire, and the ultimate campfire treat is the S’more. You may think that these are just chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers – and you’d be right; they are that simple! Yes, the perfect S’mores have slight twists to make their flavor really pop and excite. Here are some ideas directly from Hershey’s.

Classic S'mores

Making s’mores is easy. Take a graham cracker and break it in half. Layer one half of the graham cracker with half a Hershey’s chocolate bar and a large hot marshmallow. Then top it off with the other graham cracker.

You can warm your marshmallow by toasting it over a campfire or open flame. Or, if you don’t have safe access to a fire, you can assemble your s’mores with a room temperature marshmallow and then microwave at medium (50% power) in ten second intervals until the marshmallow puffs. Alternatively, you can broil the marshmallows in the oven for 30 seconds. They will turn a golden brown when done.

Try Adding a Fun Twist

Change things up a bit with these fun twists on the classic flavor:

  • Switch out that Hershey’s chocolate bar for a delicious Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
  • Place a banana or strawberry on top of the chocolate for a fruity surprise. (That makes it a health food, doesn’t it?)
  • Dip your warmed marshmallow into Halloween sprinkles before completing your S’mores for an extra-spooky look.
