“The Piper” – Llewellyn – From the Album “Ghosts

Ghosts is an instrumental album from Llewellyn inspired by popular ghost stories of the British Isles. These haunting melodies set the perfect mood for relaxation or meditation. The opening track, The Piper, is inspired by a ghost story from Loch Fyne by Inveraray Castle. The CD insert describes the inspiration as follows:

“The wind blows across Loch Fyne and hammers at the walls of Inveraray Castle as if to carry the sound of a piper hanged near there by Montrose and his army, before the present castle was built. Though little is known of the piper, he is said to have received his fate with honour, and the drummers played, and the women and children were forlorn as he was led to the gallows. The piper is seen and heard now and then in the remote castle where he appears on the stairs as well as in the Blue Room and the Library. “
